Wallace Clayton of 917 Andrews Chapel Rd, Durham, NC was a regular at the Checker Club in Durham County, located on Leesville Road at Lynn Crossroads Community House next to Fire Station, where Shady Grove Rd crosses.  (about 10 miles NNW of Raleigh near 70/540 clover leaf) They meet every morning from 8:30 - 10:00AM,  Wallace Clayton, his two uncles, Wade Ferrell, Arthur Clayton, and Don Andrews, were regulars.  Wallace being one of the better players.  He had a hernia operation a few year back and developed intestines complications which hospitalized Wallace for 6 months.  He fought this until finally he passed away Friday, October 22, 2010.  Wallace was a gentleman and those who knew his will dearly miss his friendship and checker playing.  Clare his wife said she would send me a copy of his obituary. Wallace was survived by his wife Clara S and two sons David and Neal Clayton.  Neal is a professional horseshoe pitcher, who pitches with a group at Lake Myres RV Resort campgrounds in Mocksville.
